How about throwing your circuit breaker to the off position (for the circuit that feeds this appliance)?

No power no operation; problem solved.

While blocking ALL power to the dryer is the best method, you seem to want the simple fix.

Most dryers use relays to start-power the motor and Electric Elements, this also allows the 'Door Open' switch to stop the dryer. The control circuits are usually 120v or less and use a "Button" to start the dryer. Simply buy a key-operated-SPST switch and install it in series with the "Hot" side of the "Start" switch. The dryer schematic will indicate the best wire to cut. This should work with gas dryers too. Consult your appliance tech if U have NO idea of what I'm talking about.

May keep the kids from trying to dry pets/ each other too.

U must ALL-WAYS use Electrical safety Procedures to keep from causing Potental Electrical Hazards.
