Default Four fluorescent light fixtures fail in a row

    I'm using 48" T12 wide spectrum bulbs.

The box says either T8 or T12 bulbs, but something inside keeps dying. The bulbs still work in other fixtures.

The fixtures work for awhile, then just stop. Won't restart. Swapping out bulbs, turning off and on, replugging, changing wall sockets, nothing seems to work. Burned through two brands from two stores.

Any idea what would be causing this?

I have been told that even thought they will fit in the same " tombstone" T12s & T8s are not interchangeable.
    Any thoughts?
