    Default What is this tool?

Hello. I found this tool at a yard sale, and do not know what it is, can anyone help? It has Craftsman Reg. Trade mark and MADE & PAT'D IN USA marked on it. No other numbers.

    Thanks,

I'm not so sure it's a tool in an of itself...

At first I thought water system part...automatic sprinkler maybe?....the interlocking grooves made me think it was supposed to disperse something equally.

Can you tell what metal it is? parts look steel/iron...some look brass.

Hello, and thanks to all for your replies. The main body is steel, the nut is steel, the star piece is steel, but of a differant grade. The buisness part of the tool, looks like it is aluminum, or pot metal.Being around tools all my life, it is set up like a tapered reamer, or facing tool of some sort. The first thing that comes to mind,(becaus of the "crocus cloth" was a motor valve seat facing tool. Although it could be for the header inlet hole of an engine, ar even carborator inlet manifold smoothing tool (IGUESS). Thanks to all ideas so far, and keep thinking, I appreciate it. I spent 2 days looking on the net, but nothing so far.

    Thank You All,

Hello all. I just found my "what is it tool", on the net. It is a Craftsman "Valve Seat Refacer", for engines. About 1950 vintage.

    Thanks Again,
