    Default Outside stair replacement

I own an old victorian and would like to replace the steps with wood. What is the best type of tred to use. It needs to be paintable. Everything I have tried cups, cracks, or oozes pitch.
    Thanks

Howdy consider the new decking products that are paintable but do not have the issues you are having with wood.

I have looked into new Non-wood products and am having trouble convincing myself to go that route. I have tried to keep all my repairs in keeping with the original materials. I have wood treads on my front porch that are in good shape. They are quite old and I was wondering what the wood used on them is. Any ideas?
