    Default car port roof

I would like to know what type of roofing material I should put on my car port. When I built the carport we were told to put a rolled roof on it. This only lasted 8 years, and the plywood underneath is partially rotted. I just replaced my homes roof with aspalt shingles, and would like to do the same on my car port. But several people have said that it doesn't have enough of a pitch. 12-2.... So what should we do? Please help!!!

A 2/12 pitched roof is the absolute minimum you'd want to have for asphalt shingles.

Before you reroof, be sure to replace any damage sheathing so as not to have problem spots later.
