    Default Floating floor installation question

We plan on putting in a floating engineered wood floor in a kitchen/dining area. The existing floor has two layers of vinyl. The top layer is in good shape, no holes or rips. Can the new floor be installed on top of it, or should we plan on taking out the vinyl to the subfloor?

    Any advice is appreciated! Thanks.

You don't need to remove the vinyl, however if you are installing the flooring into an area without vinyl, there will be a noticeable transition between where there is vinyl and where there is not, under the new flooring. There's two ways to go about remedying this. 1 - remove the existing vinyl or 2 - install vinyl to the same thickness as the existing in all places where the flooring will be laid.
I suffer from CDO ... Its like OCD, but in alphabetical order, LIKE IT SHOULD BE!!!
