    Default Drywall ceiling crack

I was working in the attic and my foot slipped off the rafter and cracked the drywall underneath. The drywall did pull away slightly and I will screw back in place.

I was wondering if it would be a good idea to cut the paper from drywall the width of the tape before taping and spackling the crack. I thought that by removing the paper before taping would allow the tape to sit at the same level as the rest of the drywall paper and make the repair less obvious.

Howdy if the ceiling is not textured do not cut the paper instead add a layer of drywall tape &mud and float out then spot paint ceiling.
