    Default Broke Steam Radiator Vent

Hi, my name's Jason from Stoughton, MA. I tried to remove an original vent from our single-pipe steam radiator. Unfortunately the head of the vent snapped right off, and the pipe of the vent remained screwed into the radiator. How can remove the pipe without damaging anything else?

Is there enough pipe left to get onto with a small pipe wrench or pump pliers? If not get a tap size drill for the vent, this will remove most of the pipe and may even grab enough to screw it all the way in. If not run a tap of the proper size and thread count through the hole this will remove the rest of the pipe and allow you to install a new vent.
