My home is new, built in 2007. It has a deep well for our water supply. I have installed a whole house filter system from GE, and I've been using a sediment /activated charcoal filter with it. My problem is after few days of use, the water pressure drops to an unusable level. I've inspected the filter and found that it is collapsed as if a vacuum was placed on it while under pressure. (The same way a drinking straw will collapse if you plug one end and suck on the other). What would cause the filter to collapse inward like this. Additional info: 1" oversized plumbing for filter system. High sediment / sand problem, and sulpher smell if filter is not used. Pressure problem occurs every time the filter is replaced, within a few days. Thank you for your help...
