    Default Caulk around Vinyl Windows

My builder cut costs and wrapped the window openings with sheet rock, instead of triming them out with wood. I believe the builder used painters caulk for the orginal job to fill in the gap between the sheet rock and the vinyl window frames. That lasted about a year before the sealant started cracking.

I have just recaulked all my interior windows where the sheet rock butts up against the vinyl window frames. After 4 weeks they have cracked already. I used DAP 35 year Acrylic Latex caulk plus silicone. I cleaned out the old caulk and wiped down the vinyl with mineral spirits. The paint on the sheet rock is flat latex. Suggestions much appreciated on how to repair? (I was wondering if I could put a bead of pure white silicone caulk over the old caulk. It's a big job to once again remove the old caulk if that's what you recommend.) Suggestions?

I have the house up for sale. Do not really have time to do all that work. However I do believe your suggestion is the best choice.
