Default How do you fix a ceiling.

My grandpa's house is going through some serious remodeling. One of the bedrooms we have a few problems. Some things fell in the attic years ago breaking the lath. Although the ceiling below appears nothing more than cracked, and in need of painting, is there a way to replace the plaster and lath easily? Any tips or tricks on how to do this?

Anyone know of a really good contractor in the Denver CO area?

Howdy, replacing lath and plaster is not easy. What is is adding 1/2 drywall to the existing ceiling screwing it to the plaster ceiling. The plaster is held up to the lath by the little beads of plaster the extrude threw the lath when the ceiling is being plastered. Over time these plaster, globies for lack of a better word, are brittle and once they break the ceiling weight causes numerous cracks and or part of all most all of the ceiling falls down... One can either then add ceiling trim or float the walls to the ceiling.
