Default how much water is too much?

Over the weekend we got brand new sod put down in an effort to choke out the weeds. I know it needs a bit more water than usual, but how much water is too much or not enough? The days have been cooler than normal (around 70) and partly cloudy skies. What should I look for to tell if the sod is getting enough water without getting too much?.

    Thanks

With weather in the mid 80's and lower, you should be able to water 30 - 40 minutes every other day and be fine. In hot weather you should probably water daily. Too little water will result in dull color, browning, and wilting. Too much water is really hard to muster and usually results in a thinning of the grass.
