    Default paint color

I need some advise on paint colors for my 1895 Frendh Empire Victorian home. I would like a rich color pallet. The problem I have is all my woodwork, doors, & staircase are stained orginal oak and I do not want to paint it. All the photos that I'm finding the trim work is white or cream in color. I have 9 foot ceilings, and all ceilings are tin. I have picture rails at the 8ft wall mark. With the wood work being so dark I don't have a lot of light coming in the window. I love the red, blues, ****s, and chocolates. I getting ready to tear down the wallpaper this week. Any suggestions. Thanks, Deni

Have you considered re-papering rather than paint. I believe it would be more in keeping with the style of the house. I personally prefer using and interior decorator for the choice of paper and color. It saves money in the long run.
