Default Will using vinegar in toilet harm wax seal?

I once used vinegar to clean my toilet. It worked great. First I mixed vinegar with cornstarch and then cooked it a bit until it was thickened. I put the thickened vinegar on the inside sides of the toilet bowl and let it set. It cleaned up great. But SHORTLY AFTER I NOTICED A LEAK IN THE TOILET AT THE BOTTOM and we needed a new wax seal. Was that a coincidence or did the vinegar deteriorate the wax seal? I want to use the vinegar again, but I don't want to have to replace the wax seal. Thank you.

Coincidence. Vinegar @ 5% solution diluted with cornstarch, and the water in the bowl is not strong enough to eat through wax, unless there was some strange reaction with other chemicals in the drainage system that caused the formation of some unknown wax ring eating gas (sounds plausible). Go for it. If the ring goes I'll replace it for free... if you pay travel costs.

Thanks. I'll try it as soon as I get back from my camping vacation.
