Default 3rd Floor Washing Machine Code

I have a washing machine on my third floor. I have an automatic water detecting shut off valve at the supply with the sensor sitting in the overflow pan. The overflow pan is not connected to a drain. Does this meet code or do I need to have a drain, with a p-trap, connected to the overflow pan?

As far as I know the code doesn't address this.

In Mass it would need a pan, however it could drain outside or into a floor drain in the cellar, or into a drain located in the area, some inspectors may ask for a trap primer if the drain is inside the building and is serving only the pan.
