    Default Shutter

I have shutters on my home that have blown off. I would like to reattach. They appear to have been installed with wooden dowels into the motar. Providing they are in good shape.....How do I reattach them?

You will need new anchors if the old ones did not hold the shutters in place. You might have to fill the holes with epoxy or expanding cement to have a good grip on the anchors.

Usually, at least the side of the shutter closest to the window, will have screws/nails into the framing.

If you can find an expanding anchor sleeve (lead or plastic) which fits the holes it's a simple matter of swapping them for the wood. Maybe you can drill for the next anchor size up if nothing fits tightly. Drive a coarse-thread screw into the wood dowel to have something to pull them out with.

Based on what I'm doing and what I have on hand I still use wood anchoring occasionally, an old system that still works even if there's better ways now.
