    Default Broke ceramic tile while installing cast iron kitchen sink

    What's the best way to fix broken tile around sink? Can it be glued? What kind of glue? Or is replacement my only option? I'm afraid color won't match if I try to replace

    i've been tiling for almost 20 years and in that time i've never heard of a solution other than replacing the tile. gluing it together will look terrible and it won't be water tight which is just an invitation to additional problems down the road.

    I agree, replacement is the only solution, and it's surprisingly not so difficult fir an experienced DIYer.

    You need a matching tile on hand.

    Remove the grout, pry the broken tile out carefully, clean the old thin set off, try the new tile to see if it fits.

    If it does, apply new thin set and set the tile in place, using spacers to keep it in place while drying. Wait a day or two to grout.

    What they said plus;

    Don't use anything pre-mixed in a bucket. Use thinset that comes as a dry powder that you mix with water.
