Default may 2014 cover of bath remodel wainscoting design

    Hi,

The cover of May 2014 features a remodeled bath and I would like to know the steps to recreate the wainscoting down to baseboard. Thanks!!

I don’t have the magazine – I am looking at the cover from the TOH website, and it is a little small. I think it is either a "flat panel" or "board and batten". There is a TOH article about wainscoting and it talks about both of these styles. There are some instructions at the end of the article.

In the TOH article, a flat board is used as the panel part in both. Some people apply the thicker boards or battens directly to the wall, using the drywall as the “board”. If the drywall has a lot of texture, this doesn’t work so well unless the texture is sanded and/or mudded flat. There is some instruction in the TOH article. If you look up both those wainscoting styles you can probably find how to instructions and videos.
