    Default Old deck

I have an 8 years old deck and sunroom made from treated wood posts but has never been stained or painted, does it need to be? And what do I need to do to keep it safe and lasting? In live in Maryland.

It doesn't need to be, but it's recommended. At least a coat of seal every other year or so.

Remember, outdoor lumber, goes wet, dry, is subject to winds, dust, cold, hot, sun, birds' poop, animals, and a million other things. It needs help and protection, if you want it to last.

    Thanks.
Is there anything I should be looking for on the post as signs of repairs is need before staining?

Do the repair first and then stain/seal. Some repairs are not life threatening and may not be "essential", but it's smart to fix them as well.
