Default Tileing over old concrete mortar walls

I have removed all the old tile from my bathroom walls. The sub wall looks like concrete that was laid over steel mesh. It's all in pretty good shape. Can I just reset new tile on that old concrete wall? How about in the shower stall?

Generally it could be done, if:

    1. The cement surface in undamaged, flat and smooth.
    2. The shower is mildew free.
    3. The shower is waterproofed. If it's not, use waterproofing material like Redgard.

    Ric,

For all things tile related, head on over to the John Bridge Tile Forum.

There you can post pictures of your shower, get answers for your project, and read the extensive library.
