    Default Single pole switch

Can I replace a single pole switch with a 3 way switch? If so, my existing wall switch has two wires attach to the single pole switch, red and blue. I believe red is considered hot, but not too sure about blue. Any suggestions?

Yes, you can replace a single pole with a 3 way, but it will not change the circuit to a 3 way. You'll need different wiring for that (usually a white neutral, a black hot, and a red traveler)

If you use a 3 way in place of the single pole the 3 way will act as a single pole.
