Our house is built in the flood plain. Last year for the first time since the city was settled our home flooded. We are not moving, so we want to make our house flood-able. We are going to jack it up, fill in the basement and then build a ground floor underneith the main floor at ground level.
If we should flood agian we would like to be able to just hose everything down and not have to throw out dry-wall and insulation. I was thinking of building with painted cinder blocks but there is the problem of how to insulate. We are often at -30 in the winter months. Any idea's on how to stay warm and flood-able are much appreciated.
