Smile Refinishing wood and plastic kitchen cabinets

We are in the process of doing some work on our house. We cannot afford new kitchen cabinets at this time. Our cabinets are wood, but the doors and drawers are hard plastic (purchased in 1978). The cabinets don't look bad, but we want them to look refreshed. What is the easiest way to restore them? P.S. We are getting new counter tops and new stove top and new sink. Thanks for your help!

Your options are to paint, reface, or replace the cabinets. Odds are, the cabinets are in decent enough shape that they can either be painted (cheapest fix ) or refaced. Refacing typically is overlaying the face frames with new material, and then replacing the doors/drawer fronts to match. Painting would require cleaning and prepping the surfaces, applying a primer, and paint, typically alkyd based paint.

If you want to keep the same finish that's on the carcass, you can buy doors and drawer faces and stain (paint) them.

More options are hinges on the cabinets - stay with the same to save cost.
