    Thanks for the advice regrading the weeds.

    I dont want to grow anything back there again but you guys are right, there is nothing permanent and maintenance will still be required. I don't think you guys in Houston get this kind of vegetation. I lived in Austin last year and it was dry as .... In North NJ, I've seen sporadic rain through the summer and into fall (we jut had a thunderstorm yesterday).

    I also don't want to buy Roundup. The vinegar idea sounds interesting and I'm probably going to use this method along with road salt:

    And the groundhog isn't a big problem just yet. I will not be using my 9x18 Makarov on the little guy - I will likely get a humane trap and set him free along the river.
