    Question Bartlett Pear Trees

We have a young Bartlett pear tree with a 3" base/trunk that is LOADED with small pears. Will this harm the tree? Should we remove some? Will they have room to mature and ripen properly?

We're concerned the weight will damage and/or snap branches as they mature.

    Thank you!

I don't think you have to worry about it.

Can I come over and pick some pears?

An overburdened tree won't produce a quality crop. Your yield will be small/under sized fruit. Thin the fruit to 2/3 or 1/2 and the remaining will thrive and be much larger fruit.

Oh, and don't let DJ near your trees, he'll take it all for himself!

    Thank you.

Yes, that makes sense, and something my husband suspected we should do.

We will remove a portion of these smaller fruit so the rest can grow large and tasty.
