Default Repurposing large, thick slate sidewalk

    Hi there,
Previous owner was forced to replace the historic slate slab sidewalk due to cracks. We kept all pieces (a lot of them, some quite large). We are looking into creating a walkway and a patio from these pieces.

We're wondering how to resize some of these pieces so that they will better fit a patio - they are of all shapes and sizes, generally about 1 to 2 inches thick.

    Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Cyndi

Cut them with a circular saw and a dry diamond blade or a right angle grinder and a dry diamond blade.

There will be lots of dust. Have a large fan handy.

Let me just add: old slate may be brittle/fragile, so install the slate on a concrete slab.
