Default stop gate from swinging open too far?

I am installing a gate-closer on my gate, but the instructions say that the maximum amount the gate can be opened is 90 degrees and a stop must be supplied to prevent the gate from opening any farther. I live in a bit of a windy area, and so even with the closer on if a hard gust hits the door might be forced open too far.

Does anyone have any ideas for a nice looking stop? I could always put a pole in the ground at the right distance to stop the door, but I'm hoping that someone has a more elegant solution. There are lots of stops I found on the web that prevent the door from trying to swing past the full-closed position, but nothing about how to prevent it from opening too far.

A lot will depend on what kind of gate and how it is mounted. There are all kinds of gate stops available.
