    Maytag was acquired by Whirlpool in 2005. Prior to that, the Maytag Commercial washer was a staple of the line. As far as I know, none of the Maytag designs continued under Whirlpool, the Maytag factory was closed and Whirlpool began to put the Maytag label on their products.

    Correct, they bought Maytag for 1.7 billion dollars. The deal was approved in March 2006. At the time Whirlpool also owned the KitchenAid and Roper brands. Maytag owned Amana and Jenn-Air, all of which are now owned by Whirlpool. They are now the world's biggest appliance maker. The Maytag uses the same design as all the other Whirlpool brands, only most use commercial-grade parts.
