I highly recommend the recessed outlet box. Head right back to Monoprice and pick up two of the recessed pass through/surge protected outlet combo boxes. One for behind the TV and one for behind the equipment. It may also be a good idea to pick up some 2" pvc and run it between the recessed boxes to make it easier to pass through your HDMI, CAT6 and other cables.

If the connections in the back of the TV line up with a portion of the plywood, then you can cut a hole in the plywood, trim around the edges if desired and run all the cables down the stud bay. You could also mount an outlet box while the wall is opened up and maybe run the power up to this area. Otherwise just run the power cord down the cavity too.
