    Default Mildew smelling closet

I live in a condo in new england which is built on a concrete slab.
I have a closet that smells like mildew. I have placed a dehumidifier in it and that did help to a big degree. I am wondering what is the cause and if there is anything I can do to get it to dry out more. I mention the slab because I suspect the moisture emanates from there.

open the door an ventilate it. consider lifting carpet and pad if it is in there to see if visible fungus/mold and then act on that .
Any an all of my comments are just my opinion and not to be confused with facts.

If you have a good reason to believe that the moisture comes from the concrete slab, you will need to do what MLB suggests - seal the concrete. Then lay down a moisture barrier and your new flooring.

A couple open boxes of baking soda might help reduce the smell until you pull the carpet and seal the concrete.
