Default pipe connection to hose in laundry room

Just noticed the pipe that the washing machine hose connects to at the wall has a blue/green residue on the cold water side. Is this going to cause a leak at that joint? Just watched a tv show with Rich T. on preventing/replacing hoses and looked at mine. If this needs to be replaced is this a do it yourself project with no soldering?

Replacing the washing machine hot and cold supply hoses is a pretty good idea to avoid costly disasters. Sometimes they fail, and if you don't notice it right away you end up with a flood.

You can find them in different styles at hardware stores. Installation is relatively easy. It's usually a good time to check the two wall valves as well (to make sure they stop the water when turned off).
