Default outlets make a snapping sound

Our electric outlets make a snapping sound throughout the house. They are not all on the same circuit breaker. This happens frequently. We had an electrician replace all of the outlets and he said they were fine. We are worried about an electrical fire. Is this cause for concern and if so, how can it be fixed?

***! Yes, you should be concerned. A whole host of questions pop into my mind.

Does the popping occur just when everything is running?
If so it could be loose connections.

If it happens when everything is off it could be caused by poor power company regulation or spikes.
The first step would be to call the power company. Most really do care and their check is free. Spikes could be caused by wires slapping together during high winds or capacitor banks switching in an out, among a bunch of other reasons.

Asked your neighbors if they're having the same problem, if so have them call also. Then, the power company has been placed on notice and are liable for any damage.

If you have a surge strip it could be the strip limiting the over voltage, which will eventually destroy itself.
When / if the strips fail your sensitive electronics are next.

If you have aluminum wiring Iíve seen them get hot and arc over under heavy load.

Some electricians have power quality meters and recorders to determine exactly what the problem is. You really need to get this looked at.

When you hear this snapping, turn on a radio to an AM station. If you get a lot of static when it is on a station, or you get so much static that you can't tune in an AM station, then you need to get this looked at.

As Semi-Retired already pointed out, call your utility company have them check their equipment. Have an electrician check your main panel too, not just the outlets. He needs to remove the breakers and check for corrosion or poor contact on the buss bars of the panel.
