    Default replacing smoke alarms

tried to replace all of the smoke alarms in the house, went thru every breaker in the box, but could not locate the breaker to kill the power to the hard wired smoke alarms. besides killing the whole house, what would be an option ???

Unless you have a sub panel someplace, this is practically impossible.

The quickest option is to turn the main off, do the job and turn it back on.

Did you test the voltage at the wire, or just look at the red light to see if power was off.

They have battery back-up, you know...
