    Default Shingle roof

    Hello there,

How can I prevent a drip right over my door when it rains? I have a gutter but the water is running behind the gutter and dripping right over the door so I get all the water on my head. Is it the shingle at fault or is the gutter the problem? How to fix this problem?

    thank-you again

Do you have a drip edge?

If you have a properly installed drip edge, you won't have this problem. The gutter should be under the drip edge.

No there is no dripedge. How do I correct this? Shingles are old although there is no leak inside. Can I try chaulk or can I install a dripedge without making matters worse because shingles are old. If I'm right dripedge goes under shingle?
    Thanks

    l.bro,

The drip edge goes under the shingles and the felt paper, and must be nailed to the deck. Then over the gutter.

Now that you know the order of things, figure out how to do it on your old roof.
