    Default Mold on fraiming

Good morning. During the framing of our addition to our house it rained. The contractor told me that it should not affect any thing. All looks good (2 months later) but i am seeing mold growing on the bottom of the TJI floor joist. I can see it from under the room in the new walk out basement. I the addition is framed, sheared, tyvec and we will start siding next week. All exterior doors and windows are in. the humidity in that room is between 50 and 85 % with no insulation or dry wall yet. I bought a portable de-humidifier. Should I or can I spray the mold or clean it some how before I insulate and dry wall?

    Thanks
    Tim

You may want to look at Dry Ice Blasting.

You can spray the framing with a sodium borate solution such as Timbor or Boracare. Google those for more information. They will not only kill and prevent future mold, they also make the wood more fire resistant and termite resistant. Good stuff and relatively non toxic to people or the environment.
