    Default Crumbling Brick Wall

I'm doing some remodeling work at my house in Lancaster, PA. The house was built around 1900. Yesterday I removed some drywall and discovered that the brick behind the drywall is crumbling. The problem is worse at the bottom of the wall. It seems like moisture that is being drawn up from the ground is causing the decay. The brick has what looks like little vines growing through it. The lathe that was used to install the drywall was also rotted. The exterior of the brick wall has been covered with stucco.

I'm considering removing the bottom 2 feet of the wall in sections and replacing it with poured concrete. Is this a good idea?

    Thanks for your help.

    Your idea makes good sense.
