    Default Brownish Water From Faucets

I have brown/rusty looking water coming from my faucets, showers and toliets. Mostly on the cold water side. It comes and goes, ussually several hours at a time. Any suggestions or ideas?

I'm willing to bet you have galvanized / iron pipes in your house. What is the water quality where you live? Do any neighbors have this problem?

We're outside city limits. Alot of hard water deposits. Haven't asked any neighbors yet, but I will. If that is the case, aside from replacing all the galvanized piping, are there any other solutions?

There are special whole house filters for iron in the water situations. Consider installing one of those, after you read about them in various sources.

However, a filter won't help you if your pipes have to go.
