Default New skirt board on existing stairs

I'd like to improve the looks of my basement stairs by adding a skirt board. It has oak treads with drywall each side. Is it more trouble than it's worth?

You have that right JK....It can be done but not a task a novice can usally handle. Heck Ive seen some real hack jobs done by so called Pro's

The info in the link below will help you out with the mop boards. I would suggest you knotch out the tread nosing 1st if you give it a shot.
