Default Mystery Water Valves - Anyone seen one of these before?

I found these two valves at a local resell shop, but I have no idea what they really are or how they would even work. There is only one hole (an inlet or maybe an outlet) in each one. No second holes.

In the first photo you can see the threaded nipple end on the far side of the item. In the second photo I turned one of them over to show that there are no holes in the squared off portions.

I guessed at first glance that these were wall mount hot and cold taps but there does not seem to be any way for them to mechanically operate anything.

These are the only two pictures I took but feel free to ask me any clarifying questions. I am happy to save these from obscurity but I need to make a case to my other half that they are usable for something.

These are about 8 inches long from the bottom of the detail work to the handle at the end.

Edit: I can't post photos so this will have to be on standby.

Host the images somewhere else, then link them here, it's the easiest way to go about it.

I tried posting the link but that did not work either. Maybe this link will work. Just add the usual http to the beginning.

What size is the threaded part? try to thread it into a female connector (try 1/2") and see if it fits.

    Does the handle rotate?

Unless it's some kind of a fancy shmancy plug.

Just a guess, but I would imagine that it originally had a stem that stuck out the bottom and operated a valve down below.

What does the interior of the valve look like with the stem removed, you should be able to see the direction that the liquid would flow when the valve is opened. I am also curious about the detail at the top of the valve, could it be a plug?

The detail at the tip is permanent. Though that is a good thought.

The handle does rotate on both stems, so I am leaning toward JLMCDANIEL's response. But it that is the case there are no mechanical remnants in the unit.

Maybe taking apart the handle and looking inside is the next logical step.

(I don't have an OD measurement for the unit pipe and threads. Sorry.)

Is that a concentric pipe on the end?
