Question Smoking double sided fireplace solution?

We purchased a home w/ a double sided fireplace. It works well on the dining room side which has a screen but the living room side, which has glass doors, leaks smoke whenever the forced air heat comes on as the intake for the heat system is about 12 feet away from the doors.

Don't want to turn off the heat every time we have a fire so need a better solution.

Wondering if replacing the old glass doors (installed when house was built in 1971) with air sealed fireplace doors will resolve this problem.

    Are you operating the damper?

Does it have a properly fitted chimney cap?

Are you getting the flue up to proper operating temperature?

Yes to all three questions. It works great on the dining room side. Just smoking on the living room side because of the fresh air intake from the forced air heating system. When the heater kicks on it draws the smoke from the fireplace in that room.

Does the fireplace have its own fresh air intake?

From the sounds of it, I think the new doors would indeed solve your problem

Is the fresh air intake clean? Has it been checked recently?
