    Unhappy New drain--chemical smell!

We just had a new sink installed as well as new piping for the sink. It has been 4 days of use and every time I run hot water down the drain, it gives off a strong chemical smell. Is it the type of plastic drainpipe; will it go away; do I need to have the plumbing changed to copper or galvanized? Help!

It is likely the plastic drain parts and/or the joint cement that you're smelling. It should dissipate with time. If it's still a problem in a week or so, you may want to have the plumber back to address the issue.

Thank you so much...that is reassuring.
