We live in a rural area and have just less than an acre of land. We have a septic system and gray water system as well. We live at the top of a hill where everyone complains about drainage. When it rains, the water stays. The ground will remain soggy long after the rain falls. We also get a "lake" in our backyard. In fact in the winters the "lake" freezes over and our children skate on it. Now that it is not freezing over, with young children always wanting to go outside and play it has become difficult. We tried to create a natural swale that cuts across our entire backyard this fall, which it's not big enough and apparently not done correctly. What can we do??? Please help! We've had quotes from companies wanting to charge us 6-8 grand to put dry wells and pipes leading to the front yard. Is this our only hope?
