    Default smell in pipes

    there is a smell coming from the sink and bathtub in the bathroom also in the kitchen. they are pvc pipes. the smell is something kind of like the sewer. can you advise me on what to do about this please?

    this is one of those things that's going to take some investigation. my first guess is that the main vent is blocked therefore pulling water out of the traps when the toilets are flushed. the easiest way to determine if that's the case is to see how water drains in all the fixtures. does the toilet "glug" when you flush it? does the sink or tub "bubble" when the water is draining?

    Are you sure it's coming from the sink or tub? In most cases it's a failed wax seal on the toilet that is causing the problem.

    Remove the trap under the kitchen and lav sinks to clean them and to see if they are full of water. See if this does anything.

    If the smell is still there, I would say that it's related to the venting system. If you don't know how, call a pro.
