    Default Clearance for a toilet

I am furnishing a bathroom and I have a question about the placement of a cabinet in relation to the toilet. I know that typically you need 15 inches from center for a toilet between a wall or a cabinet. I have the proper 15 inches from the center of the toilet to the wall. However, I want to put a cabinet on the other side of the toilet. The cabinet is tall and only 12 inches deep. The ideal position for it only puts in about 11 inches from center, but again, it is a shallow cabinet and not a full depth cabinet. Do I need to still have the 15 inches of clearance for this? Or if the cabinet is short enough does the code not apply?

technically you do need 15" but if you're not pulling a permit, dry fit the cabinet and try using the toilet and see if it gets in the way.

As long as it is movable it should be no problem.

If you ever have an inspection, make sure the cabinet is out of the way.

Where will put the paper holder?

It is required to have at least 15" to each side from the center of the toilet to the first obstruction (wall, cabinet, pipes, shower door, tub, etc.). This is a standard and need to be maintained.

but not for a movable piece of furniture. if your rule was true you couldn't put a waste basket next to the toilet.
