    Question Old Insulation?

In the process of removing old K&T wiring and noticed that the insulation used in the ceiling turns to dust the second you touch it (both the paper and the insulation itself).

Should I be concerned? Is it a health or fire issue? Thanks

it's not a health issue if it isn't disturbed. also, assuming it's fiberglass insulation, it's not a fire hazzard either.

It looks like very old fiberglass which has the very long and thick fibers. Its quite itchy and those fibers can get poked into your skin like needles. I'd think its much safer than modern insulation due to the larger fiber size, aside from any dust settled on it.
