    Default basement windows

    Hi there,
I am replacing basement windows so there is no sill. There is only a concrete foundation. How do I trim the outside of windows. They are vinyl windows. Thanks very much

Replacing vinyl windows is not very complicated, But it require experience. If your window frames are completely rotten then the whole window unit has to be replaces. If frame is in proper condition then measure the interior width and height of each window frame side to side and top to sill.Order the windows with two layers of insulated glass using these measurements.

i concur. when i replace basement windows we remove all the old wood from the opening then line it with 2x6 pressure treated.. this gets bolted to the concrete .then thats your rough opening. you can usually see what the size of the opening in the concrete is from either inside or outside. just order the window 4"smaller both in height and width to allow for 1" space for shimming and insulation plus the pressure treated
fire up the saw and make some dust
