Default countertops and new tile backsplash

I'm having new countertops put in my kitchen. I plan to tackle putting in a new subway tile backsplash.

my question is simple. Should I wait to have the countertop installed and then do the tile backsplash or would it be better to do the tile first and then install the countertop? thanks.

Always install the counter first. Be sure to leave a 1/8" gap between the tiles and the counter, the tiles and the cabinets, the tiles and the adjoining wall, the tiles and the window sill. This gap gets filled with caulk.
