Friends,

I am trying to hang a hat rack on a plaster wall. The way the rack is built, the heads of the 4 mounting screws will sit about two inches away from the wall when fully driven. In other words, the mounting screws won't be flush with the wall, nor will they be able to expand the anchor (which will be flush with the wall). Of course, this means the anchors won't work. Short of installing a wooden backing affixed to studs, how can I solve this problem?

Thank you...
