We are continually having problems with paint lasting on the cement siding that was installed on our house in southern Vermont 10 yrs ago. It was entirely repainted 5/6 yrs ago, and it will need to be painted again soon. The cement siding's selling point was it would require much less upkeep and last 15 years.

The biggest problem is continually having to deal with is the paint "sticking" to the siding on the north side of the house. That area is subject to a lot of piled up (wet) snow. The paint only lasts a year or two before it peels off in large strips.

Has anyone had experience with such winter conditions?

The following primers have been suggested by a hardware store: Mad Dog Primer or Rust-o-leum's Zinsser PermaWhite. Any experiences with these, or others? Thanks.
