I am in the process of remodeling a 100+ year old Tudor home basement. The ceiling height is approx. 7 feet and has a beautiful beamed ceiling. I am torn between somehow sealing the beams and keeping a 'rustic' feel or using dry wall. I'm concerned about turning the room into a 'sterile' place w/ low ceilings vs. keeping the beams and height. Since I'm working on a budget, how would I keep the wires, pipes etc. out of the way without having to completely move/consolidate the major workings? Any suggestions on how to 'have the best of both??'
